Share Liverpool FC

I have today committed to investing in Liverpool FC. Rogan Taylor is trying to organise a fans' buy-out of the club in a fascinating experiment in supporters' democracy. A number of Spanish clubs such as Barcelona are run by their supporters already. By my calculation 100,000 supporters or so will have to commit £5,000 each for the bid to be successful. A tall order but who knows....

POST SCRIPT: It seems that Dubai International Capital have submitted a best and final bid to Gillett and Hicks. We should know in the next couple of days what the outcome of that will be. I do not have the faintest idea what DIC's plans are for the club. Just one private equity deal to another.....

  1. Wasn't it Bill Shankly who said "At a football club, there's a holy trinity - the players, the manager and the supporters. Directors don't come into it. They are only there to sign the cheques."

    As a Celtic supporter I have the rosary beads out praying for divine intervention! I will do anything for any sort of a miracle against Barca tonight!
